1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using StudySense (“the Service”), available at studysense.app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Service. We recommend reviewing these terms periodically, as your continued use constitutes acceptance of any updates.

2. Description of Service

StudySense is an AI-powered study companion that provides the following features:

• Flashcard creation and management with spaced repetition scheduling (SM-2 algorithm)
• AI-generated flashcards from uploaded documents
• Multiple-choice quiz generation from your flashcard decks
• AI language tutoring with interactive conversation scenarios
• Document-based Q&A powered by AI
• Study analytics, streaks, and progress tracking

The Service is provided on an “as-is” basis and may be updated, modified, or discontinued at any time without prior notice.

3. User Accounts

To use StudySense, you must create an account using a valid email address or Google sign-in through Firebase Authentication. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Providing accurate and current account information

Each person may maintain only one account. You must not share your account credentials with others or create accounts on behalf of unauthorized individuals.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations
• Attempt to manipulate, bypass, or inject instructions into the AI system (including prompt injection, role override attempts, or adversarial inputs)
• Upload, submit, or generate content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or networks connected to the Service
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access the Service without authorization
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines. All user content is subject to automated content moderation.

5. AI-Generated Content

StudySense uses frontier AI models from leading providers to generate flashcards, quiz questions, tutoring responses, and document analysis. You acknowledge and agree that:

• AI-generated content is provided “as-is” and may contain inaccuracies, errors, or incomplete information
• You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated content before relying on it
• AI-generated content is not a substitute for professional advice (medical, legal, financial, or otherwise)
• The quality and accuracy of AI outputs may vary and are not guaranteed

6. Intellectual Property

Your content: You retain ownership of all content you create, upload, or store on StudySense, including flashcard decks, study notes, and uploaded documents. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

Our service: StudySense, its design, code, branding, and all associated intellectual property are owned by StudySense. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service without our written permission.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, StudySense and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service.

The Service is provided “as-is” and “as-available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

8. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms of Service. In the event of termination for violations, we are not obligated to provide notice or preserve your data.

You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page. Upon account deletion, all your data will be permanently removed from our servers in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you disagree with the updated terms, you should discontinue use of the Service and delete your account.

10. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which StudySense operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
